Watch the Trailer

Asteroid City is a 2023 Wes Anderson movie known for its flat tones and pastel colors. This color grading creates a hyperreality aesthetic that complements the film’s whimsical storytelling and mid-century desert setting.

Super Flat, Pastel Colors

This LUT gives your footage flat tones with pastel colors. They don’t work well with busy footage but do with minimalist scenes or symmetrical compositions with straight lines. You can get different results, like more blue or teal skies, lower or higher contrast, etc., by making adjustments below this LUT. As you can see in the examples below, the result can greatly vary depending on your input footage.

Color Grading

Colors are shifted towards a pastel color palette, with teal skies and peachy beige. The tones are incredibly flat.

I also emulated the very subtle teal color cast in the film. This color cast is usually in the shaded white areas.
